We are David and Karen Hoogland. We became interested in learning the art of stained glass when we were remodeling our kitchen back in 1997. Karen wanted a stained glass panel made for one of the corner cabinets. When we discovered the panel would cost nearly $400, we jokingly asked the woman who gave us the estimate if we couldn’t just take a class in making the design. She told us, “Sure!” That summer, David took classes in the craft. In the summer of 2001, Karen also took the classes.
Since 1997, we have made many designs for our home, as well as for gifts. Several years ago, David made some scouting related designs to donate to a silent auction. Requests soon came in for personalized items, such as those displayed on the two scouting pages..
In 2001, we created our first 3 Boy Glassworks website. Our first out-of-state order came from a Girl Scout Leader in Baton Rouge Louisianna!
David and Karen have been active as leaders in Boy Scouts of America since 1996, As a youth, David achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Their oldest son, Tim, became an Eagle Scout in 2007. Their younger sons, Jeff and Doug, remained active in scouting as youths, earning the ranks of Star and Life. All three young men still participate in scouting activities with their dad.
We have been doing some “remodeling” on our site over the past few weeks.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our site!
